Ari Vatanen, born in 1952 in Finland, is a rallying legend. He began his career at a young age and quickly gained notoriety, winning the Finnish Rally Championship in 1976. In 1981, he became World Rally Champion with Ford. After a serious accident in 1985, Vatanen made a triumphant comeback, winning the Dakar Rally four times (1987, 1989, 1990, 1991). Alongside his sporting career, he was a Member of the European Parliament from 1999 to 2009, working on environmental and road safety issues. Vatanen is celebrated for his resilience and enduring influence in the world of motorsport.
