The color orange isn't as common as other classic hues associated with motor racing, such as red, blue or green, but it has nonetheless left its mark on the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
One of the most emblematic teams to adopt the color orange at the 24 Hours of Le Mans was the Gulf Racing team. Racing cars sporting a light blue and orange livery, with colored accents, have become emblematic in the history of the competition.
The Ford GT40 and Porsche 917, entered by Gulf Racing, wore these distinctive colors. The combination of blue and orange was both vivid and easily recognizable on the track, and quickly became emblematic for motorsport enthusiasts.
The Ford GT40, in particular, with its Gulf Racing livery, scored several legendary victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1960s and 1970s, contributing to the indelible association between the color orange and success on this iconic track.
Although less widespread than other colors, orange has left its distinctive mark on the history of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, not least thanks to the remarkable performance and aesthetics of the team's cars Gulf Racing team.
