The history of blue at the 24 Hours of Le Mans is deeply associated with French carmakers, and in particular with two emblematic brands: Bugatti and Talbot.
In the early years of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, each country tended to use its own national color for its racing cars. Blue was assigned to France, but was not systematically used by all French teams.
Bugatti was one of the first brands to contribute to the association of blue with French racing cars. Bugatti racing cars often sported a royal shade of blue, and some were even nicknamed "les Bleues". These cars made their mark with remarkable performance and helped popularize the association of blue with French motor racing.
Later, Talbot-Lago cars, another French car brand, were also painted blue, further consolidating this association of blue with France at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
So, even if Ferrari red is more emblematic of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, blue has also left its mark, representing the dynamism and ingenuity of French racing cars in the history of this legendary competition
